  2.   $aleBase V1.1 released in november 1993.

  4. INSTALLATION
  5. ------------
  6.   Create a directory for $aleBase, create a directory for the work files,
  7. go in the work directory, execute $alebase.exe, copy salebase.exe in the
  8. $alebase directory and erase it from the work dir.
  9.  
  10.   If you do not have VBRUN100.DLL in the windows directory, go in the
  11. Windows directory, execute VBRUN100.EXE from the $aleBase disk.  If you
  12. do not have the $aleBase disk, find VBRUN100.ZIP on some BBS or some friend.

  14.   The files that you have in the work directory are there for you to be able
  15. to use $aleBase almost immediately.

  18. NO BUGS
  19. -------
  20.   Although this program has been checked and rechecked for bugs, I cannot
  21. assure you that it is 100% bug free.  Should something wrong happen to the
  22. datafiles or any another file on your system, I cannot be held responsible
  23. for what could happen.  When you use this program, you use it at your own
  24. risks although I assure you that nothing went wrong when I used it.  And I
  25. still use it.

  27. GENERAL OVERVIEW
  28. ----------------
  29.   Select the configurations in the configuration form and the company form.
  30.  
  31.   Use the client form to select a client, use the product form to select
  32. products (by double-clicking on the product name), enter serial #s for
  33. the products in the selection form, use the invoice form to do an
  34. invoice preview based on the selected products and client.  Fill in the
  35. blank amounts (amount paid, rebate, ...) do another preview.  Then use
  36. the printer picture to print whatever is in the preview pages.

  38.   Use the help button if you need more help.  The best way to learn how
  39. to use $aleBase is to test it.  Play with it.

  41. CHANGES IN V1.1 COMPARED to V1
  42. ------------------------------
  43.   Well, if you've never used V1 of $aleBase, there's no need to enumerate
  44. the differences.  And if you've used the V1 of you know what program,
  45. you will see the differences for yourself, they are visible by the human
  46. eye.  But if you have seen V1 of $B and you don't consider yourself human,
  47. then give me a call because there are 99.99999% chances that you are
  48. B. Gates and I would like to discuss a few points about Windows.  And I
  49. have the same or more technical knowledge has you have, so don't try
  50. to avoid questions.

  52. SECURITY!
  53. ---------
  54.   You should ALWAYS backup your $aleBase directory files on a disk or
  55. two every day.  You never know when a hard drive head crash or system
  56. failure can prevent you from using your datafiles again!  Especially
  57. with a big fat program like Windows.  (Man!  I wish PCGEOS would have
  58. known the success of Windows... Maybe Billy G. would be working in a
  59. MacDonald right now... Happy thought of the day.)

  63.   There are many data files but their names are almost self explanatory.
  64. The data are in Visual Basic format and you can see them in the
  65. file FILETYPE.TXT.
